As a country music artist and the reigning CMA and aCM Female Vocalist of the Year, Carly Pearce, spends much of her time on the road performing for audiences worldwide, including HGV Live! “I am never home and often living out of a hotel,” explained Carly. We caught up with Carly at Las Palmeras, a Hilton Grand Vacations Club before a performance in Orlando to chat about life on the road, travel and HGV Live!
Q. What’s your go-to packing style when you’re on the road?
A. My go-to packing style used to be perfect. I would only pack one outfit for each day and never over-pack, and something happened to me during COVID because now I just pack everything in my closet anymore.
Q. What’s in your carry-on bag?
A. I very rarely have a carry-on bag, but if I do, it usually has a few outfits in it, some fake hair, fake eyelashes and some running shoes.
Q. What’s your travel routine for long-haul flights?
A. Sleep. I can sleep anywhere — sitting up or resting my head on the tray table.
Q. You travel a lot — what are three travel tips you have for others?
A. I would say:
Pack only what you need. (I need to listen to that.)
Love the people that you’re with. Travel with friends and family. I get to travel with my band, and I love it so much, and we get to make so many amazing memories.
Travel more — don’t be afraid.
Q. When you travel for fun, how would you describe your travel style?
A. On the road, I have to follow an itinerary, so for those of you who like to pack it all in on vacation, you and I would not travel well together because when I travel for fun, I just want to sit at the beach.
Q. Who are your favorite travel buddies?
A. My band. We travel the whole world together.
Q. What do you look for in a vacation?
A. Somewhere tropical, somewhere with a beach, somewhere that’s hot, somewhere that I don’t have to do anything.
Q. Tell us about your all-time favorite destination and why you love it.
A. My all-time favorite destination that I’ve been to so far would be Cabo San Lucas or Tulum, Mexico, so I guess I really like Mexico. I really like margaritas and white sand beaches. I kind of want to go right now.
Q. If you could give travelers three tips for Tulum, what would they be?
A. I would say:
Don’t worry about renting a car. You can bike everywhere.
Go and see the ancient ruins, it’s beautiful over there.

Q. We heard you had an opportunity to stay with Hilton Grand Vacations before, such as at Mystic Dunes, a Hilton Vacation Club ; what was your favorite part of your stay and why?
A. I always know that a Hilton Grand Vacations property is going to be clean, and I know that I will have a lot of space. I usually have a kitchen, which makes me very happy, and everybody is super friendly. Furthermore, I always have a good time.
Q. Have you had an opportunity to check out any of our pools or fitness rooms?
A. I have always been very happy with the Hilton Grand Vacations properties’ fitness rooms. Getting a workout in always makes me have a better show and just gets my mind in a better place.
I think my whole band would tell you that they spend most of their time at Your pools and love it.
Q. The intimate nature of HGV Live! Shows lends themselves to more crowd interaction. Can you tell us about any Member interactions at an HGV Live! Show that stand out?
A. I’ve always had a perfect time at any of the HGV Live! Shows. I think Members are always really excited to hear the stories behind the songs, which, if you know anything about my music, you know that my stories are the pillar of my music.
Q. You’ve been a Hilton Grand Vacations Ambassador for some time now. What’s your favorite part of performing for an HGV Live! Show versus a traditional concert, and why?
A. My favorite part is that some people have no idea who I am, and it’s kind of fun. I feel like it gives me an opportunity to win some people over, and maybe if people don’t love country music, I make them a fan, or they just have a good time.
Q. We hear you enjoy a quiet room/space before your shows — what’s your pre-show routine like?
A. I do enjoy a little bit of alone time. We all travel on one tour bus, so just having a little bit of space before the show is nice.
Q. If you could travel to Hawaii, Colorado or Europe, which would you choose and why?
A. I’ve been to Colorado, and I love it, and I’ve been to Europe, and I love it, so I guess I would have to say Hawaii because I haven’t been there.
